Steven C. Bennett
Steven C. Bennett plays Gary,
the confused father who looks to the Count and his fabled
hunt to lead him through an apparant mid-life crisis.
He was most recently seen on
MadTV, in the part of Dick Cheney on a heart monitor,
The Bold and the Beautiful, and a few commercials
that never seem to air as much as others do. He has also appeared
in The Young and the Restless, General Hospital,
It’s Garry Shandling’s Show and numerous
stage plays in local area theaters. He has been studying with
film acting coach, Peter Looney, “for more years than
I can count on my fingers”.
His first love has always been
comedy. He studied improvisation comedy with DeVera Marcus
and Off the Wall, a long-running improvisational group. That
led to a few years as a stand-up comedian, where his life-long
talent for impressions was put to good use as Johnny Carson,
Casey Kasem (one of the first to actually do him), Yoda, and
cartoon characters like Elmer Fudd/Carlo Rossi (of wine fame,
they sounded the same). Through the director’s gleeful
encouragement, this latter impression made its way into this
film.
“The making of this film
was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. When I first saw the
script, I didn’t quite get it (in hindsight, that fits
right in with the character). But once we got into the rehearsal
stage, it became increasingly clear that this group of people
had a child-like enthusiasm, which was very contagious. There
was nothing they wouldn’t at least try in terms of comic
possibilities, many of which actually made it onto the screen
(to my complete surprise). Even though this may be a cliché,
it was a true collaboration working with these Saturday-morning
cartoon aficionados. I would work with these guys in a second
(or even longer!)”
